…between ambient electronica and classical music lies
Textile Audio…
Working with scores, field recordings, and operatic-pop composite vocals to weave rich melodic soundscapes and textures this music is unashamedly romantic.
“Transgressions against boundaries or conventions, rejection of norms and standards handed down by an authority, all wrapped in a roughish youthful spirit – whichever way you cut it, the larrikin sensibility is writ large in New Weird Australia. No more so than in this particular volume – where Textile Audio takes both classical and operatic blueprints, and weaves them around found sounds and abstract electronica”
- Stuart Buchanan & Danny Jumpertz on the sleeve notes to New Weird Australia Volume 4.
Textile Audio a project by operatic mezzo soprano and electronic musician Eve Klein.
Eve performs in traditional and contemporary opera productions. In 2012 Eve is appearing with Opera Australia’s Oz Opera performing the roles of Hansel, Mother, Sand Fairy and Witch in Humperdink’s opera Hansel and Gretel. Eve will also premier the role of Jade in Benjamin Looms and Murray Dahm’s new opera Our Side of the River and perform in the reprisal of Opera Promethesus’ Passione Appasionata.
Eve is an active music writer, composer and academic. Her current obsession is skating and Eve plays roller derby with the Blue Mountains Roller Derby League (nice girls can play derby too!).
